How a pattern gets made

Drafted, checked, corrected after the fit.

Patterns are drafted by a pattern maker on our studio team in the USA and checked by a second person. The photos show that kind of work: pattern corners, cutting tables and fittings.

What you get

Every piece, marked for the cutting room.

A production pattern is more than a shape. Each piece carries the marks a cutter and a sewer need, and the files open in your factory’s software. Pick a mark to see it on the piece.

  • DXF-AAMAThe standard exchange file: it works in all of the CAD systems below, so your factory opens it in its own software.
  • PDF for the plotterFull-size pieces on wide paper, for sample rooms that cut from a print.
  • PDF, tiled printThe same pieces split into letter or A4 pages with match marks, to print and tape at your desk.
  • Native CAD files on requestWe work in Gerber AccuMark, Lectra Modaris, Optitex, TUKAcad, CLO, Browzwear, StyleCAD and Audaces. Tell us which one your factory uses.

Every file is yours outright: no licensing, no lock-in, use it with any factory.

How it works

From your brief to a pattern that passed a fit.

A first pattern is only finished once it has been sewn and corrected. Your factory sews the fit sample; we read it and correct the pattern.

  1. Step 01

Send your brief or tech pack

Your tech pack, or a sample with photos and measurements, plus the fabric and the size you want the base pattern in.

Who: Someone on our studio team reads it.

  2. Step 02

    Scope and quote by email

We confirm the tier, the files and the timeline before any work starts.

Who: Our team, within 24 hours.

  3. Step 03

    We draft the pattern

The base-size pattern in CAD: seam allowances, notches, grain lines, piece labels. 5–7 working days after the brief is confirmed.

Who: A pattern maker on our studio team in the USA.

  4. Step 04

Your factory sews the fit sample

You send the files to your factory or sample room. We do not sew samples and we do not place production.

    Who: Your factory.

  5. Step 05

    One correction round

Send fit photos and measurements. We correct the pattern and send new files. More rounds are $89 each, the same as our fit comments.

Who: The same pattern maker, with a second person checking.

The team behind every pack

Real people draw every tech pack.

Our studio team in the USA drafts every flat, measurement and note, and answers your revision rounds by email. No template generator, no guesswork.

  1. Team at a table reviewing printed sportswear flats and color swatches, with the designs on a screen behind Reading a brief with flats and swatches
    01

    We read your brief

Sketch, reference photo or sample: someone on our team reads it and replies within 24 hours with the tier, the price and the timeline.

  2. Tech pack page with front, side and back technical flats of a raglan active t-shirt Example page
    02

    We draw the flats

A technical designer draws every view to proportion, with numbered callouts for each seam, stitch and trim.

  3. Vest tech pack page with front and back flats, a graded measurement table and a bill of materials Example page
    03

    We grade and spec

Measurements graded across your sizes with a tolerance on every line, plus the bill of materials and construction notes.

  4. Technical designer kneeling to measure the inseam of a fit model with a tape measure Measuring the inseam on a fit model
    04

A second person checks every measurement

Before delivery, someone who did not draw the pack checks every point of measure against the flats. Then 2–3 revision rounds by email.

Example pages are shown with the brand removed. Photos show the kind of studio work behind each step.

What to send

Send the spec. We draft the pattern.

Per style: $349 for simple styles such as tees, tanks, skirts and shorts; $549 for intermediate styles such as hoodies, joggers, leggings, sports bras, shirts and dresses; $899 for complex styles such as jackets, coats, tailoring and jeans. Extra correction rounds are $89. We confirm the tier by email before any work starts.
